Björk’s Icelandic epic, directed by Robert Eggers, is set to be released next Spring.
Upcoming historical thriller film The Northman - starring Reykjavík musician, actress and DJ Björk - is set to be released on April 8th, 2022.
The 55-year-old artist is set to star alongside Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy, Alexander Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe, and Ethan Hawke in the Icelandic epic.
The film, directed by Robert Eggers, is set in 10th Century Iceland and follows a Viking prince seeking justice for his murdered father.
Björk will be playing The Slav Witch alongside her daughter Ísadóra Bjarkardóttir Barney, who is also set to appear in the film.
The film's production, which is taking place in Ireland, was halted last year due to the pandemic but resumed in August 2020. Eggers’ third feature as director wrapped filming in December 2020.

The Belfast Telegraph had reported that filming is taking place near the Antrim Hills.
Eggers co-wrote the screenplay alongside Icelandic poet Sjón, who has collaborated with Björk on “Jóga,” “Cosmogony,” “Oceania,” and others.
The film serves as a follow up to 2019’s The Lighthouse, which starred Dafoe and Robert Pattinson and earned an Academy Award nomination for best cinematography.
In addition to Dafoe, The Northman reunited Eggers and Taylor-Joy, who starred in his directorial feature debut, The Witch.
