Co-written with Dave Sirus and 'Saturday Night Live' star Pete Davidson.
'The King of Staten Island' is set to be released for rent on digital platforms this Friday, June 12.
The semi-autobiographical comedy-drama starring Pete Davidson chronicles his life growing up in Staten Island, including the loss of his father in the 9/11 attacks and his entrance into the world of stand up comedy.
Judd Apatow’s comedy focuses on a twenty-four year old struggling with grief and mental health issues, featuring performances from Marisa Tomei, Bel Powley and Maude Apatow.
Davidson's character Scott spends the majority of his time getting high with his friends and making questionable decisions, though his real dream is to make it as a tattoo artist.
The actor is known for his 'Saturday Night Live' career as well as a high-profile relationship with Ariana Grande, but has been outspoken about his medicinal marijuana use on account of his Crohn's disease and borderline personality disorder.
Apatow ('This Is 40', 'The 40 Year Old Virgin', 'Knocked Up') was impressed by Davidson's cameo in the Amy Schumer film 'Trainwreck', and later asked to collaborate with him on their latest offering.

“Pete wrote a script for me that didn’t pan out,” Apatow told Roe McDermott, film editor at Hot Press.
“Then one day, Pete mentioned that he wanted his mom to be in a relationship and to be happy. We started kicking around this idea, what would happen if Pete’s mom started dating a fireman…and how would that affect Pete’s character. What would that bring up? There’s nothing funnier than hating your mom’s boyfriend."
The full Judd Apatow interview with Roe McDermott will be published this Friday, with comments from the film's female stars; Bel Powley, Maude Apatow and Marisa Tomei.
The film will be available to rent at home on demand this Friday (June 12th) on Sky Store, Apple TV and Google Play amongst other digital platforms.
