The Irish-American actress was nominated for the Outstanding Lead Performance category, joining the likes of Adrien Brody, Nicole Kidman and Demi Moore.
Saoirse Ronan has been nominated for this year’s Gotham Awards in New York City, one of the first major events of the 2024 awards season.
Ronan is nominated in the Outstanding Lead Performance category for her role in The Outrun, the widely-acclaimed drama which follows Rona (Ronan) on her journey towards addiction recovery in The Orkey Islands in Scotland. Having debuted to widespread acclaim, the film was produced by Ronan, her partner Jack Lowden (Mary Queen of Scots), Sarah Brocklehurst and Dominic Norris.
Speaking with Hot Press at the premiere of The Outrun at Light House Cinema last month, Ronan discussed the importance of sound and music in the film, saying: "We have two soundtracks going on at once; we have the natural soundscapes and we have what's in Rona's headphones". Ronan describes Rona's "electronic" tastes as "a type of music that she discovers" while living a life of alcohol-fuelled ecstasy in London.
