Notable winners at last night's awards show included Fleabag and 1917.
The 2020 awards show season has officially begun, with last night's 77th Golden Globes. Hosted by Ricky Gervais, the night saw major wins across the board for British productions Fleabag and 1917 – but disappointing returns for Irish actors Saoirse Ronan and Andrew Scott.
Saoirse Ronan received her fourth Golden Globe nomination for her starring role as Jo March in Greta Gerwig's Little Women, but missed out on the night to Renée Zellweger, for her title role in Judy. It wasn't an wholly disappointing weekend for the Irish actress however – Ronan picked up her first award of 2020 for Best Actress at the 9th Annual Australian Academy Of Cinema and Television Arts International Awards in Los Angeles.

Andrew Scott, meanwhile, who was nominated for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, lost out to Stellar Skarsgard (Chernobyl). Scott earned critical acclaim for his role as the 'Hot Priest' in Fleabag. The series' creator, Phoebe Waller-Bridge , followed her successful Emmys run with awards for Best Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy and Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy.
