The Galway Film Fleadh takes places next week from 11-16 July.
Independent Senator Lynn Ruane has announced that her new short film, Waiting Day, will premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh next week.
The film, written by Senator Ruane, was shot in Bluebell near her native Tallaght in Dublin, and depicts the lives of a young family dealing with poverty and addiction in the household.
The short feature, created with the help of Alfonso Films, Screen Ireland and Grace Dyas, showcases the importance of a love and humour for a family in the constant face of difficult decisions.

‘Waiting Day’ stars Senator Ruane’s daughter Jordanne Jones, who earned a Dublin Film’s Critics Circle award as well as an IFTA nomination for her debut role in Frank Berry’s 2014 film I Used to Live Here.
More recently, the actor played Minne Mahon in the RTÉ miniseries Rebellion and Resistance in 2016 and 2019. Her lead role in Metal Heart won her a Bingham Ray award for Best Newcomer at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2018.
Appearing alongside Jones is Dayfhd Flynn, known for his roles in Michael Inside (2017), Vikings (2013) and Lakelands (2022). The pair have previously appeared together in the aforementioned and critically acclaimed ‘I Used to Live Here.’
