Shane MacGowan's partner Victoria Mary Clarke has revealed that a film company wants to turn their love story into a Hollywood movie.
"It’s in the very, very early stages but they want to do a film based on our relationship," Victoria Mary Clarke has told the Irish Sun newspaper.
“It’s a love story, it’s not a Pogues film although that will obviously be a part. We’re both very excited."
Victoria, who is pictured above with Shane and Johnny Depp, believes that the Hollywood icon would be the ideal actor to play Shane.
“Johnny Depp would be top of the list to play Shane, they are obviously good friends and we absolutely adore him," Victoria stated.

But there's only one snag. She explains: “The only thing is they want someone to play Shane at around 24 or 25, which is when we met in London when I was 16. So I don’t know if Johnny could do it, although he is a brilliant actor."
Supposing there is a film being made about us who could play #shanemacgowan ? Obviously Meryl Streep but who else? @poguesofficial pic.twitter.com/cIsjMPrFTE

Victoria says that "obviously Meryl Streep" would be an ideal to play her. "I was thinking Meryl Streep would have the range. She could definitely pull it off."
She also believes that Bono's daughter would be perfect to play her younger self. "“Eve Hewson would be fantastic for the role, she has the dark hair and ‘the look.'"
Victoria says that Shane is even keen to write new music for the planned movie. “Shane is going to do the soundtrack so he’ll be back in the studio, he’s already been in a bit recently. It’s going well and he is loving being back at it," she also told the Irish Sun.
“Shane is really excited about the idea, he thinks it’s fantastic. He’s already counting down the days until he can watch it on Netflix!"
