The first trailer for Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music has been unveiled, featuring Sinéad O’Connor’s iconic 1992 performance on the show.
The Saturday Night Live documentary, celebrating the show’s 50th anniversary, will be released on January 27 and offers interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, and breakdowns of some of the show’s most iconic musical moments.
Artists commenting on the half-century of musical history in the documentary include Jack White, Dave Grohl, Mick Jagger, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, and a number of SNL cast members both past and present.

The trailer also offers a closer look at some of SNL’s most iconic and controversial moments, including Sinéad O’Connor’s 1992 performance, where she staged a protest against the Catholic Church.
During her interpretation of Bob Marley’s ‘War’, O’Connor held a photograph of the then-Pope John Paul II up to the camera, tore it to pieces, said "fight the real enemy", and threw the pieces to the floor.
Other controversial performances showcased in the trailer include Ashley Simpson’s lip syncing stumble, spontaneous choices from Elvis Costello and Rage Against the Machine and Kanye West’s appearance on the show wearing a MAGA hat.
50 Years of SNL Music is set to air on NBC on January 27 and will stream the next day on Peacock.
