From the mind of Chris O’Dowd, the new Sky Original series boasts as star-studded cast and takes place in a familiar rural Irish town.
Sky has unveiled a sneak peek of Chris O'Dowd's forthcoming dramedy series Small Town, Big Story, which stars Paddy Considine (House of the Dragon, The World's End) and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Good Girls).
The three teaser shots depict characters Wendy Patterson (Hendricks) and Séamus Proctor (Considine), as well as residents of Drumbán - the small fictional town where the series is set. The images were released today in celebration of wrapping-up filming for the six-part serial, which was shot on location in Ireland around County Wicklow and in Chris O'Dowd's hometown of Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
The series follows the goings on about a rural town of rattled misfits on the border of Ireland and another world, and what happens when a Hollywood production comes to town, casting a spotlight on a secret that’s been kept hidden since the eve of the Millennium.
“I bloody love television, and am most engrossed by stories that bring the remarkable to the everyday," says showrunner O'Dowd. "I hope we’ve made a beautiful show that an audience will find funny and will keep people on the edge of their seats…and beyond."
The three released images introduce the eccentric personalities of the fictional Irish village:

- Séamus Proctor (Considine), the local doctor, is a respected pillar of the community. He has a neat and well-ordered life, or at least he thinks he does. Soon, Proctor finds himself in the eye of a storm as a celluloid circus descends, threatening to blow open a secret he has been harboring since the Millennium.
- Wendy Patterson (Hendricks), a Drumbán native who found success as a TV producer in Hollywood, returns to her hometown after over 20 years, having left under something of a cloud. Back in the chaotic microcosm of Drumbán, this time with a film crew in town, Wendy is caught between her local past and her epic new production.
- The locals in The White Ridge, a quintessential Irish pub in the heart of Drumbán. It serves as a gathering place for the town's local oddballs and personalities, including Keith McCurdle (David Wilmot), Barbara the butcher (Michelle Forbes), Matt Magee (Peter McGann), and barkeep Shelly McGoldrick (Evanne Kilgallon).
The forthcoming series is produced by Playground / FilmNation Entertainment and HotCod Productions in association with Sky Studios. Christina Hendricks and Chris O'Dowd serve as executive producers, as well as Colin Callender, Scott Huff, Glen Basner, Milan Popelka and Stefanie Berk; Liz Gill serves as series producer.
