The actor had been out of the public eye for 2 years following a drunk-driving incident.
South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been found dead in her home in Seoul.
The 24-year-old's body was found by a friend. Local police have said that they have not found any signs of foul play and are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Kim's death.
Born in 2000 in Seoul, Kim began her acting career at the age of nine. She gained international recognition with her role as an orphan in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which was showcased at the Cannes Film Festival.
She later starred in the 2010 action movie hit The Man from Nowhere, which solidified her career as a child-actor. She would go on to feature in the 2012 mystery thriller The Neighbours, as well as the 2014 drama A Girl at My Door.
In May 2022, the actor was involved in a drink driving incident. It was reported that she crashed her car into a guardrail and transformer, which resulted in electricity being cut off to dozens of nearby businesses for several hours. She avoided jail but was fined 2 million Won (around €13,000 euros).
She shared a heartfelt hand-written apology on social media, and took a 2 year hiatus from acting after her company terminated her contract.

Following the incident, several of her scenes in Netflix’s 2023 K-drama Bloodhounds were edited out of the final cut. Kim also didn't attend any promotional events for the series.
Many fans and co-stars have taken to social media to pay tribute to the late actress. Among them, former co-star Kim Min-che shared a photo of a scene from The Neighbors on Instagram and wrote: “I was so happy to meet you as my daughter in the movie. May you rest in peace.”
