The sequel to the 1984 music mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap, the movie has been acquired by Bleeker Street studio.
A first teaser has been released for Spinal Tap II: The End Continues, a sequel to the 1984 music mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap. A US theatrical release has also been announced for September 12.
The U.S. rights to the rock comedy follow-up have been acquired by Bleeker Street, an indie studio founded by Andrew Karpen in 2014. It also landed the rights for the original This Is Spinal Tap, which was re-released in theaters last summer.
Directed by Rob Reiner, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues follows the fictional heavy metal group as they reunites after a 15-year hiatus for one final concert.
Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer will reprise their roles as members of “one of England’s loudest bands,” while music legends like Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are set to make cameos.

In the newly released teaser, the band’s Marshall guitar amplifier is seen getting turned “up to eleven" – a reference to the first film, where Spinal Tap’s guitarist Nigel Tufnel (explains to Marty that the volume on his amp goes up to 11 instead of the standard of 10.
“So happy to be working with the folks at Bleecker Street who are passionate about keeping Tap’s legacy alive and happy to give Marty DiBergi another shot at relevancy,” Reiner said in a statement.
No UK or European release dates have been announced yet.
