Universal Pictures has released a star-studded behind-the-scenes feature of their upcoming movie-remake of the classic musical Cats.
Yesterday fans got their first sneak preview of the upcoming movie Cats with a behind-the-scenes production released by Universal Pictures. The video features many of the star-studded cast, including Taylor Swift, James Corden, Idris Elba, Rebel Wilson, Ian McKellen, Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, and more, prancing around set and explaining what the production process has been like.
“My favourite thing was getting to be theatrical, to tell a story and I’ve always brought that sort of narrative element to my live shows,” explains pop superstar Taylor Swift, who plays Bombalurina.
Judi Dench, who was cast in the 1981 production of Cats explains how this remake serves as an opportunity for personal redemption. “I snapped my achilleas tendon and I thought that that was my history with Cats, but it turns out not to be,” she says.
The movie, directed by Tom Cooper, will feature the actors with digitally-added fur to make them appear more feline. James Corden, who plays Bustopher Jones, explains, “Tom’s pairing them with a kind of level of technology that I don’t think has ever been used before.”
In the video, the cameras follow the stars through the massive sets, designed to make the humans feel more cat-sized.

“It’s a massive undertaking. A kind of Alice In Wonderland experience,” described Judi Dench.
The first official trailer for Cats will be released tomorrow, 19 July with the movie premiering on 20 December.
