The film premiered on Friday October 13th which proved to be a fortuitous day for Swift, smashing previous box office records for similar concert films
In what seems to an unstoppable rise, Taylor Swift once again smashes another sales record. The Eras Tour film made headlines after having made an estimated $126 million internationally on box office weekend, with $95 million dollars coming from North American screenings alone.
As part of her career-spanning Eras Tour, the singer songwriter has released a concert film, announced in August of this year. The concert film was recorded over six nights at Swift's six dates at the LA Lofi Stadium. The Era's Tour setlist encompasses material from all of Swift ten album catalogue, from the singer's eponymous debut, to her most recent album 'Midnights'.
The previous record for highest grossing concert film was held by Justine Bieber's 2011 concert film Never Say Never, having grossed an estimated 40 million dollars on box office weekend. It seems the Swifties have outdone the beliebers in terms of tickets sales, with almost three times the ticket sales.
The concert film was released internationally last Friday in over 90 countries.
The Eras Tour has been routinely making headlines as being the highest grossing tour in history, with her 50 North American stadium dates estimated to have earned the singer song writer over $300 million, dethroning Beyonce's Renaissance tour as the previous number 1 highest grossing tour.
In an Instagram post shared on Friday, Swift revealed Beyonce made a surprise visit to the Eras Tour Premier.
