Domhnall Gleeson's new series The Patient is out now on Hulu in the US, while a UK and Ireland release date has yet to be announced.
Domhnall Gleeson has hilariously called out Stephen Colbert for mispronouncing his name during a recent appearance on the presenter’s late night talk show.
The Dublin-raised actor, who is in the States to promote his latest series The Patient – which he stars in alongside Steve Carell – appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week.
The pair were discussing the 2014 film, Frank, which starred Gleeson and Michael Fassbender, when the Irishman brought up Colbert's recent faux pas.
After being welcomed to his seat, Gleeson told Colbert: “You can imagine my dismay when a few weeks ago you had Steve Carell on the show and you said, ‘Now, in this series, you are with Dom-nom-nall Gleeson. It was a car crash. It was a mess.”
Shaking his head with embarrassment, Stephen replied: “Yes I said Dom-nom-nal...You can’t blame me! Irish names are impossible! Siobhan?!”

“I’m not gonna take this from a Colbert,” Gleeson responds, earning cheers from the crowd.

Describing how to pronounce the name Domhnall, Gleeson once said: “It’s pronounced like tonal with a ‘d’ instead of a ‘t’, and the ‘m’ is just there to confuse Americans.”
Domhnall's father Brendan also appeared on Colbert this week alongside The Banshees of Inisherin actor Colin Farrell. The pair discussed the 15-minute standing ovation which the Martin McDonagh film received at the recent Venice Film Festival, which Gleeson described as "mortifying". Farrell also claimed he tried to leave at minute seven.
The legendary actor also made a memorable appearance as the host of SNL this week, which saw Farrell gate-crash his opening monologue.
