Three shows took home the most awards at this year's Emmy Awards. The Bear and Succession took home six awards each, while Beef took five. Combined the shows claimed a total of 17 out of the 26 awards given out.

Succession was granted accolades in Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, Writing for a Drama Series and Directing for a Drama Series categories.

The series concluded with its fourth season in May 2023 on HBO. The commendable program had a total of 14 nominations with multiple in categories such as Directing for a Drama Series, Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

In his thank you speech, Kieran Culkin, says that he has “got to thank Jesse Armstrong for being a brilliant writer, showrunner and gentleman.”

Tying Succession with the most awards granted in the night was The Bear which premiered on Hulu, starring Jeremy Allen White, the winner in the Lead Actor in a Comedy Series category.

“Thank you to all those who have stayed close to me, especially in this past year, you know who you are,” Allen says. “I love you.”

The Bear also received awards in Outstanding Comedy Series, Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, Writing for a Comedy Series and Directing for a Comedy Series. The show won all but one of the Comedy Series awards in the Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category which went to Quinta Brunson for Abbott Elementary.

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong received recognition as Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movies and Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie for their roles in the Netflix limited series Beef.

Lee Sung Jin won two awards for Beef in the Writing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie and Directing for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie. “First and foremost, thank you to the writers. We wrote this over Zoom which is the healthiest way to communicate,” Jin jokes. “Thank you for powering through that.”

Beef also received recognition in the Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series as well as had two nominations, Joseph Lee and Young Mazino, for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie.

Elton John received EGOT status this year after his special Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium received Outstanding Variety Special (live). EGOT meaning he has received an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award, joining only 18 others who have achieved this honour.

Winners in the other categories include: The Daily Show With Trevor Noah for Outstanding Talk Series, RuPaul’s Drag Race for Outstanding Reality Competition Programme, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver for Outstanding Scripted Variety Series, Jennifer Coolidge in The White Lotus for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, Paul Walter Hauser in Black Bird for Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie, Niecy Nash-Betts in Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story for Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver for Writing for a Variety Series.

The ceremony was originally scheduled for September as the nominations were announced this past July. However due to the writers’ and actors’ strike, many nominees would not have been able to attend the event.
