The 76th Tony Awards kicked off in New York City, premiering last night on June 11th.
Recognising the artistic talent that goes into bringing world-renowned Broadway shows to life, the Tony Awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League.
Awards don't just go to the talented actors and actresses that grace the stage, however. The Tony Awards also offer awards highlighting the talent behind productions' show-stopping costumes, stunning staging, creative choreography and more.
Competing for Best Musical against Kimberly Akimbo were & Juliet, New York, New York, Shucked, and Some Like It Hot.
Kimberly Akimbo had a few more wins up its sleeve. As a team, Jeanie Tesori and David Lindsay Abaire won best original score for their musical and lyrical work respectively.
The team behind Kimberly Akimbo's score also won big. Winning best performance by an actress in a leading role in the category of musical was Victoria Clark. David Lindsay-Abaire won best book of a musical, while Bonnie Milligan won best performance by an actress in a featured role in a musical.

Alternatively, Sean Hayes won best performance by an actor in a leading role in a play for his work in Good Night, Oscar.

Another award-studded production was the musical Some Like It Hot, winning best orchestrations thanks to Charlie Rosen and Bryan Carter. J Harrison Ghee also won best performance by an actor in a leading role in a musical and Casey Nicholaw won for best choreography.
The musical production's costume designer Gregg Barnes best costume design of a musical, while Leopoldstadt's costume designer Birgitte Reiffenstuel won the equivalent for that of a play.
Some of Leopoldstadt's other wins include Best Play, awarded to Tom Stoppard, best direction of a play, awarded to Patrick Marber, and best performance by an actor in a feature role in a play, won by Brandon Uranowitz.

On the other hand, the English actress Jodie Comer won best performance by an actress in a leading role after the production Prima Facie transferred from the West End this past spring.
Parade won both best revival of a musical and best direction of a musical, the latter awarded to Michael Arden.
Alex Newell, for his work in Shucked, won best performance by an actor in a featured role in a musical.
Taking home the award for best scenic design of a musical, New York, New York was Beowulf Boritt.
Topdog/Underdog won best revival of a play while The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window saw the actress Miriam Silverman win best performance by an actress in a featured role in a play.
Life of Pi had a couple of wins, Tim Hatley and Andrzej Goudling winning best scenic design of a play for their work crafting the on-stage presence of Life of Pi. Caroln Downing won best sound design of a play for her work on the project while Tim Lutkin won best lighting design of a play.

Finally, Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street's Natasha Katz won best lighting design of a musical while Nevin Steinberg won best sound design of a musical.
