The Western is shaping to be the biggest Irish film of 2018
Ireland's first movie tackling the famine, Black 47, is out September 7 this year.
Directed by Lance Daly (Kisses), the film stars James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom) as an Irish ranger named Feeney who returns home to Connemara after fleeing his post in the British army.
Upon arrival, he discovers his mother and brother have died in the famine. When the rest of his family are killed by the British during an eviction, it's the last straw. Feeney decides to use his soldier skills to seek revenge for those responsible. Meanwhile, his former comrade, Hannah (Lord of the Rings' Hugo Weaving), is recruited to hunt him down.
The film also stars Barry Keoghan, Jim Broadbent, Moe Dunford, Sarah Greene and Stephen Rea.

Having already premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, ADIFF and the Galway Film Fleadh, the movie could be one of this year's biggest Irish cinema releases.
