A fresh superhero comedy, Extraordinary follows a young woman (played by Cork actress Máiréad Tyers) who grapples with adulthood and struggles to find her place in a world where she feels she does not fit in.
Disney+ has revealed the trailer and key art for the highly-anticipated second season of the comedy series Extraordinary. All episodes will be available to stream on Disney+ in Ireland and the UK on Wednesday 6 March, 2024.
Written by series creator Emma Moran, and directed by Toby MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan, this superhero comedy deals with being young and finding your feet in a confusing world when all you’ll ever be is normal.
Extraordinary stars Cork actress Máiréad Tyers as Jen who lives in a world where everyone develops a superpower at the age of 18. 25 years old and bereft of such a transformation, Jen embarks on a journey to deal with and accept her inabilities.
The second season picks up where season one spectacularly left off, following Jen on her powers journey as she enrolls as a client at the 'power clinic.' Jen soon discovers that the process of finding her power is much easier said than done, and she struggles to keep the rest of her life afloat in the process.
Ex-cat, now-boyfriend Jizzlord (Luke Rollason) has had an unexpected revelation about his past, and Kash (Bilal Hasna) and Carrie (Sofia Oxenham) are attempting to keep up appearances and maintain their dignity after their break-up, which is not easy when they’re still living under the same roof. It seems that Jen and the gang are dealing with new levels of adulthood and chaos that none of them are prepared for.

After releasing the first season, Máiréad Tyers spoke to Hot Press last March for our Mad Hatter Q&A. Answering our burning questions, she named Eimear McBride as a favourite author and An Cailín Ciúin as her top film, calling it "beautiful" and expressing her joy that "it's getting the recognition it deserves." She name-dropped What What What by Caoimhín Ó Raghallaig as her recent obsession and Bombay Bicycle Club's Home By Now as her favourite record. When asked what dying words would be?
"Stream Extraordinary on Disney+."
For those seeking to respect Tyers' wishes, be sure to catch season two of Extraordinary on Disney +, available to stream Wednesday, 6 March 2024. In the meantime, check out the trailer for the sophomore series below.
