"Irish theatre got a lot darker today," says Graham McLaren, Director of the Abbey Theatre.
Renowned Irish actress Rynagh O'Grady, best known for her iconic role as Mary O'Leary in Father Ted, as well as her work at the Abbey Theatre, has died, aged 67.
Graham McLaren, Director of the Abbey Theatre, has paid tribute to his "great friend", remembering "her talent", "her humour", "her integrity" and "her patience".
"I'd sneak into the back row of the Abbey to watch her hush a hysterical audience with a look, then lead them through a speech full of heart, humanity & justice," he continued. "Irish theatre got a lot darker today."
