North Star will tell the story of Sheridan's early years in Ireland.
Bono and The Edge of U2 are in talks to compose original music for an upcoming film based on Irish filmmaker Jim Sheridan's life.
According to Variety, the semi-autobiographical feature, North Star, will be directed by Sheridan, and will follow his experiences growing up in Ireland in the '60s.
Bono and The Edge are in discussions to write and perform an original song, 'North Star', as well as working on the film's score.
North Star is expected to begin shooting on location in Ireland in early 2023 – with Timothy Scott Bogart and Jessica Martins producing, alongside Sheridan and his longtime producing partner Catherine O'Flaherty.
Casting for the film is currently underway.

According to the film's official description, North Star "is the coming-of-age story of 17-year-old Sheamie Sheridan who lives with his rough-around-the-edges father and younger brother Frankie."
"A journey into the heart and soul of a family, Sheamie finds his world turned upside down when a teenage orphan moves in to live with them, revealing the deeper and more complicated problems Sheamie has with his dad; secrets that now threaten to tear the family apart," the description continues.
Sheridan has previous scored multiple Academy Award nominations – including Best Director (for both My Left Foot and In The Name Of The Father), Best Picture (In The Name Of The Father), Best Original Screenplay (In America), and Best Adapted Screenplay (for both My Left Foot and In The Name Of The Father).
