With a behind-the-scenes video providing a first look yesterday, today the first trailer for the movie adaption of the musical Cats was released. The film boasts an impressive cast of mega stars: Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, James Corden, Judi Dench, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, Rebel Wilson and Ian McKellen will all bring the story of Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous musical to life.
Cats is directed by Tom Hooper who is famous for his work on The Danish Girl and Les Misérables as well as The King's Speech which earned him an Oscar for Best Achievement in Directing. Hamilton choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler is responsible for the dance parts.
The musical deals with a group of cats called the Jellicles, who every year have to decide which of them should ascend to the Heavyside Layer. There, the cats get rebirthed and have another chance at life.

Accompanied by Jennifer Hudson's touching version of the popular Cats tune 'Memory', the trailer shows the stars as human-shaped felines covered in CGI-fur. "We've used digital fur technology to create the most perfect covering of fur", Hooper explains in the behind-the-scenes video.
"This holiday season you will believe", promises the trailer and from what we've seen so far, we definitely believe that the movie will be a spectacular experience. Cats will be released in cinemas in December of this year.
