The infamous Willy Wonka event that went viral in February is set to be recreated in Los Angeles later this month
The "Willy's Chocolate Experience" that stirred chaos in a Glasgow warehouse is set to unfold once again, but this time in Los Angeles. The event, infamous for its misleading promises and police intervention, is making headlines as it prepares for a US recreation on April 28.
Initially advertised as an immersive family adventure, the Glasgow event quickly unravelled, leaving parents unhappy and children disappointed. Reports emerged of bad decorations and limited offerings, with attendees receiving no more than "two jelly beans and a quarter of a cup of lemonade." The event's AI-generated script and a character known as "The Unknown" prompted an early shutdown and police involvement.

Despite its chaotic end, "Willy's Chocolate Experience" gained notoriety, spawning memes and even catching the attention of politicians.
Actor and yoga teacher Kirsty Paterson, who played an Oompa Loompa from the Glasgow event, plans to take up her role in the California remake. Paterson, reflecting on her unexpected claim to fame, expressed excitement about the opportunity, describing it as a "modern-day fairytale." She has made several appearances on TV since the Glasgow event and now has 17,000 followers on Instagram. She also has a Cameo account, where fans can pay for her to send them personalised video messages starting at €32.
The event, described by comedy star Zach Galifianakis as "tongue-in-cheek," promises attendees a chance to "step into a world of pure imagination."
