The 67-year-old actor tore up the Saturday Night Live set ahead of this weekend's hosting duties alongside musical guest Willow.
Irish actor Brendan Gleeson is embracing his skater side ahead of his hosting duties at Saturday Night Live this weekend.
In a new promotional clip for the US sketch show, the Banshees of Inisherin talent skateboards around the set - much to the annoyance of a security guard - sprays graffiti over a 'no skateboarding' sign and generally wreaks chaos.
"I'm Brendan Gleeson, most people know me as an actor, but the real me… is a skater," the Dubliner says in the clip. Shots follow of the skateboarding menace “shredding it” around the studio and doing tricks, while making fun of “copper” Molly Kearney (an SNL actor).
Gleeson will make his hosting debut on October 8th, joined by Willow, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who will make her debut as a musical guest on the show.
The actor is boosting the anticipation for his award-winning new film, The Banshees of Inisherin, written and directed by Martin McDonagh. The black comedy-drama sees Gleeson reunite with Colin Farrell and McDonagh, who directed the pair in both In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths.
Going into the complexities of male friendship and toxic male pride, the tale set on an imaginary Irish island was filmed on Inis Mór and Achill Island. The Banshees of Inisherin is the first film McDonagh has made in Ireland since his Oscar-winning short Six Shooter.

"To do something in Ireland was majestic, especially the west of Ireland was a dream of mine. The whole area we filmed was where I went back to when I was a kid to visit relatives. It's where my dad's from," said McDonagh earlier this week in Venice.
The flick has already caused a stir at the Venice Film Festival earlier this year, earning a 14-minute standing ovation, and is generating major Oscar buzz.
Gleeson’s SNL episode airs on Saturday at 4.30am Irish time on NBC and Peacock.
