The Da Vinci celebrating historical drama us due in 2021
It's not set to premiere until 2021, but the pan-European makers of Leonardo have released a sneak peek at Leonardo, which stars Aidan Turner as the boy Da Vinci.
Released to coincide with his 1452 birthday, it shows the Italian preparing to start work on his famous painting, The Last Supper.
The good news for those who lusted over the Clondalkin actor in Poldark is that he's retained his flowing locks and, we imagine, his six-pack.
The eight-parter has been co-created by Frank Spotnitz who's recently brought the curtain down on The Man In The High Castle and Steve Thompson who's written for the likes of Sherlock and Doctor Who.
Whilst primarily known for his painting, Da Vinci was also a brilliant mathematician, geologist, scientist, engineer and inventor of musical instruments, hydraulic pumps and automaton knights.
“Capturing the character of Leonardo has been one of the most fascinating and exciting challenges of my career,” Spotnitz reflects. “It’s hard to fathom that a man this extraordinary could even have existed, let alone the human impulses that drove him to achieve such extraordinary things."
