Limerick poet and spoken word artist Dyrt has shared his short film Imbas Forosnai.
The title, in old Irish, translates (roughly) to “wisdom that illuminates”, and is often used in reference to poets who practiced in ancient Ireland.
Dyrt’s piece follows a man in present day Limerick, seeking “answers from the Otherworld.” The film, through ambitious visuals and poetry, examines a primal desire for meaning, linking the traditions of yesteryear with contemporary issues.

The community-made short film, produced by Pete Moles, received the Limerick Film Bursary award from Limerick Culture and Arts Office and won in its category at the Richard Harris film festival. Dyrt has subsequently toured Imbas Forosnai across film festivals in Europe and North America.
The fifteen-minute clip is directed by renowned local filmmaker Shane Serrano, who has previously worked on a number of visuals for fellow Irish artists, including The Coronas, Pa Sheehy and most recently, The 2 Johnnies on ‘St. Patrick Drove A Honda Civic’.
Dyrt, real name Shane Davis, has himself collaborated with leading Irish musicians, notably featuring on Kneecap’s 2020 single ‘MAM’. He’s also performed across Ireland for a number of years, appearing at Elemental Festival, The Blindboy Live Podcast, Féilte 2018 for President Michael D. Higgins.
