Netflix's Bridgerton-verse prequel premieres on May 4th this year.
Today (Tuesday, February 14), Netflix and Shondaland hosted a global event for Bridgerton Universe super fans. During the event, creator and executive producer Shonda Rhimes revealed that Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story will premiere on May 4, 2023.
In addition, a teaser for the highly anticipated six-episode limited series was revealed, featuring Tom Verica as director and Betsy Beers as executive producer.
Rhimes is best known as the creator and head writer of the television drama Grey‘s Anatomy and its spinoff Private Practice.

At the event, Rhimes and cast members Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), India Amarteifio (Young Queen Charlotte), Corey Mylchreest (Young King George), Arsema Thomas (Young Lady Danbury), and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) participated in an exclusive panel discussion.
A panel focused on what to expect from the series and how it relates to the Bridgerton universe overall. Also revealed were the themes the characters must deal with and where the actors found inspiration for their roles.

Centered on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in 'Bridgerton',“ it says in a press release.
Golda Rosheuvel revealed that this spring, Her Majesty will bring The Queen‘s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience to New York City. Co-produced by Netflix, Shondaland, and Fever, the waitlist is now open.
