The film stars Johnny Flynn ('Lovesick') as the icon.
The first clip for 'Stardust', the David Bowie biopic, has been revealed. The short teaser shows us the very first look at Flynn as the iconic musician, and Marc Maron as his publicist, Rob Oberman.
Startdust will differ from its recent predecessors 'Bohemian Rhapsody' (about the life of Queen singer Freddie Mercury) and 'Rocketman' (the Elton John biopic) in that it will not use Bowie's music. Without the blessing of Bowie's family, 'Stardust' will recount the star's first trip to America in 1971 and how the experience inspired his Ziggy Stardust alter ego sans the actual 'Ziggy Stardust' tune.
The film also stars Jena Malone ('The Hunger Games') as Bowie's first wife, Angie. Flynn's casting was a surprise, so we'll have to see how he fares – both without Bowie's music and in his portrayal – when the film is released. 'Stardust' was due to debut at Tribeca this week, but due to Coronavirus concerns, it will premiere via a private online portal and then released to streaming services later this year.
