Ahead of hosting the US television show this weekend, Mescal reveals his great comedy acting in a promo video.
Gladiator star Paul Mescal appeared in a Saturday Night Live teaser ahead of his hosting debut on the show this weekend.
In the video, Mescal impresses SNL stars Devon Walker and Heidi Gardner by arriving early for a read-through for the show - before transitioning dramatically into a Gladiator-style role.
Ominous music plays, after Walker tells Gardner she is holding his script, which she immediately disputes. Mescal says: “And so it shall be, a fight to the death”, before pulling out a pair of swords, stating: “For glory and for truth”.
SNL star Mikey Day also appears at the read-through, telling Mescal that playing Donald Trump Jr was his thing, despite Mescal wanting to play him.
Mescal dismisses this, which prompts Day to call him as a “nice guy” - before he gets hit with an arrow in the chest.
Mescal is seen standing with a bow and arrow, and says: "A man must fight for what is rightfully his. I will have vengeance or I will have death”. He then smiles, and adds: "It's going to be real fun this week, guys. I'll see you at the read-through”.
