The HBO survival thriller bagged 8 awards in the first night of the annual awards ceremony.
Johnny Murphy, a prosthetic makeup artist from Westmeath, has won a Creative Emmy for his work on the acclaimed HBO series The Last of Us.
The Ballinagore native and his colleagues received the prestigious award at last night’s ceremony at the Peacock Arts Theatre in Los Angeles.
Mr Murphy has over 10 years' experience in prosthetics, including painting and mold making. He often shares his creation to social media, even practicing some of his creations on his wife, Melissa Groome.
As well as The Last of Us, he’s also worked on Carnival Row and Into the Badlands.

Johnny’s father Timothy Murphy said that his son had always backed himself to win an Emmy, and said that he had been telling them he was going to do it "for many years".
"We supported him as best as we could in the pursuit of that dream" said his father Timothy (RTÉ). “HE was the most diligent person I have ever known, in his work ethic on that journey.
"As for the local reaction...we are still celebrating and have not been out yet, but answering all the well wishers. It’s a great day for us as a family, and for Johnny and Melissa."
HBO's adaptation of the popular survival video game hit screens early last year, becoming a hit with fans and critics alike.
"When you consider that the channel first made a splash with The Larry Sanders Show fully 30 years ago, before going truly supernova with The Sopranos in 1999, it is some fucking achievement," said Hot Press' Paul Nolan of the show. "And they’ve only gone and done it again with The Last Of Us – so buckle up for another epic thrill-ride." Read the full review here.
