We invited a 100-strong chorus of artists, writers, musicians, broadcasters, sports stars and more to contribute to Now We’re Talking, a mental health campaign, run in partnership with Lyons Tea and Pieta House. Comedian Tommy Tiernan offers what he believes are some helpful processes...
I'm not sure what mental health means to be honest with you - but just in terms of an adventure, meditation would be something I'd suggest to everybody over the age of 12 really. I think it's fantastic. It creates a buffer zone between what you might be feeling and your ability to stand back from it. So, that's a helpful tool.
Every now and again I would do it (go to therapy). It wouldn't be a constant in my life at all. Sometimes people go to therapy because they've no friends. I mean that in jest, by the way! I guess what I'm trying to say is: a friendship can provide healing as well.
