In addition to the ticketed discussions and demonstrations, visitors can treat themselves to some deliciously diverse offerings from food trucks in the outside arena – including the hugely popular Mama Shee, Little Catch and Beanery.
There's just one more sleep to go until The Wonderful Barn in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, is transformed into an immersive world of culinary delights, as part of the action-packed Brigid 1500 programme. This Saturday, January 27, some of the brightest stars in Irish food will step out for Mother Earth: A Food Happening – with a thrilling line-up of discussions, demonstrations and more, taking place in The Wonderful Barn Marquee from 12pm.
You can also look forward to a wide range of family-friendly activities throughout the day in the free-to-access Arena – with some of the country's most lauded and innovative food trucks gathering at The Wonderful Barn for the day.
Throughout the day at The Wonderful Barn Arena, there will also be lots of family entertainment, including basket-weaving, face-painting, guided tours of The Wonderful Barn, circus performers, musical performances – and more!
The message is: it'll be well worth a trip to The Wonderful Barn just to hang out and enjoy the festivities. And don't forget – The Wonderful Barn, just outside Leixlip village, and off the Celbridge Road, is only 30 minutes from Dublin – so feel free to pop down!
There will be a free shuttle bus service, ferrying those who avail of the free parking at the nearby Kildare Innovation Campus to the site. The car park is also a 12-minute walk from The Wonderful Barn.

Little Catch

Mama Shee

It is like stepping into a brand new, and thoroughly delightful culinary world...

Beanery
Originating in Clane, Co. Kildare, and operating out of a stunning vintage coffee van that was lovingly restored in 2015 – it's been described as French, quirky and fun, and we can tell you that it is! – Beanery offers a premium coffee service, with its La Marzocco barista machine, as well as hot chocolate and absolutely delicious artisanal cakes. "We are eco aweare, and always have been," they say.
Brigid's Crosses
The Wonderful Barn's arena area will also play host to Cluain Mór Willow – traditionally crafted willow baskets, handmade by Lonneke using locally grown willow. To properly embrace the spirit of the occasion, Lonneke will also be leading demonstrations throughout the day on weaving Brigid's crosses.

Mother Earth: A Food Happening is part of the Nothing Compares series – presented by Hot Press and Kildare County Council – which will provide unique and joyful ways to celebrate Irish women creatives. The entire Brigid 1500 programme promises to be a very special celebration of the legend of Brigid – a Pagan goddess and a Christian saint who is symbolic of the power, strength and independence of women in Ireland.
Later on Saturday evening, the sold-out Mother Earth: The Wonderful Barn Show will be held at the same venue. Featuring songs on the theme of 'Mother Earth', the line-up includes the legendary likes of Denise Chaila, Gemma Hayes, Una Healy, Róisín O and Tolü Makay.
Events at The Wonderful Barn are being supported by Intel, whose campus is in Leixlip, Kildare County Council and Hot Press.
