Admission to the Open Day is free, with no booking required.
The award-winning Alliance Française in Dublin is running its free Open Day on Saturday, September 14. Kicking off at 11am, the event offers visitors the opportunity to meet Alliance Française's staff and learn about the courses and events lined up for 2019 and 2020.
With an aim to promote French culture and provide space for intercultural exchanges, the Dublin centre is the third biggest Alliance Française in Europe, and the first established in a non-French speaking country. In 2016, the Alliance Française in Dublin was awarded a European Language Label, co-ordinated by the European Commission in recognition of outstanding improvement in the quality of language teaching and learning.
On Saturday's Open Day, visitors are welcome to visit Alliance Française's listed building on the corner of Nassau and Kildare Street - less than five minutes from plenty of public transport options. In the centre, visitors can check out the state-of-the-art Multimedia Library and find out about the various French courses, specialised tuition, workshops, diplomas, cultural events and memberships on offer. There will also be free assessments of your level and needs in the French language available - as well as a complimentary coffee and croissant in the new French Café. Keep an eye out for free goodies and competitions on the day, too!
Also taking place at Alliance Française this Saturday is a free Children's Show, Poulette Crevette. Presented by theatre companny La Baleine Cargo, the show is an adaptation of the eponymous children’s book, written by French children’s author Françoise Guillaumond. The musical play is both witty and tender, and deals with difference and tolerance. While the show begins at 12pm, children will be able to meet the writer from 2pm, and discuss the story and explore the show's musical instruments.
