Dublin’s pizza slice scene is thriving, with an array of spots offering everything from US-inspired classics to authentic Roman-squares. Hot, affordable, quick and above all else, delicious, we’ve picked out some of the city’s most mouth-watering spots.
Doomslice
14 Dame Lane

One of Dublin’s newest, slice-dedicated pizzerias has squared the circle, and delectably so. Located at the confluence of two popular nightlife establishments, Pawn Shop and The George on Dame Lane, this eatery was opened in May of this year by New Yorker Tom Sicotakis, who noticed a distinct lack of Detroit-style deep dish pies in Dublin.
The unique shape comes from being baked in rectangular trays, many of which were originally used as automotive drip pans in the numerous factories across Motor City. The result is a deliciously thick slice with a caramelised cheese crust called frico.

As well as some unbeatable, simple staples like the Detroit and Pepperoni Red Tops, Doom Slice serve up some out-there yet scrumptious combinations, including Pancetta & Pineapple and the Carnitas of Doom– a colourful explosion of cheese, chipotle marinara, carnitas, guac, pickled onions, sour cream and hot sauce.
Mani
42 Drury Street

Having steadily built a cult following via their food trucks and pop-ups around the city, these Roman-style pizza merchants finally opened a bricks-and-mortar location on Drury Street at the tail end of last year
Taking their name from the Italian for ‘hands’, Mani is the brainchild of well-travelled pizzaiolo Ciaran McGonagle, who took a pilgrimage to Rome to learn at source how the Eternal City’s beloved thin and crispy pizza by the slice was made.
“Their signature 72-hour-fermented dough is airy to a heavenly extent”

Their signature 72-hour-fermented dough is airy to a heavenly extent, which, when combined with fine ingredients and bold original concepts (like their well-Instagrammed Carbonara slice), makes for an ideal eatery to enjoy a quick bite on the buzzing South Dublin streets. If you’re feeling extra peckish, don’t be afraid to try out their Roman-style supplì – delicious, deep fried balls of rice, cheese and tomato.
Bambino
Various Locations

Judging by the long, meandering queues often found at their original Stephen’s Street location, it’s evident that two additional Baggot Street and Smithfield stores were well warranted. Bambino is probably the most hyped pizza slice vendor in the city at the moment, and for good reason.
This joint pays homage to NYC’s Italian-Americana via its brick walls and Sopranos artwork, and was opened by experienced pizzamen Shane Windrim and Nick DiMaio in 2022, who after rigorous experimentation, landed on their delicious formula. It utilises a sourdough base which undergoes a 48-hour fermentation process.

The massive pies are topped with high-quality, Irish ingredients (think Toonsbridge mozzarella and Andarl Farm pork, sourced specifically for the store), before taking a spin in a triple-decked electric oven and cut up into the large, thin and crispy slices that have had Dubliners lining up in their droves for the last two years.
Pizza Prince
14a Crown Alley, Temple Bar

If it’s an authentic Italian slice you’re after, no one does it better in the capital than the aptly named Pizza Prince in Temple Bar. You won’t find any pineapples, chicken or BBQ bases here. What you will discover is seriously good, nonna-approved pizza al taglio.
A tasty, speedy alternative to the Neapolitan-style full pies also offered, the Roman squares are made with an airy, crispy base, topped with crushed tomatoes so fresh you can practically taste the vine they were plucked from.

Helmed by the friendly and multilingual pizzaiolo-in-chief Godwin, who learned his craft alongside some of the best in the old country, this spot offers affordability in the heart of an often-exorbitant tourist hotspot (it’d be a grave mistake to miss out on their range of panini too, which are made with Tuscan-inspired focaccia).
DiFontaine’s Pizzeria
22 Parliament Street, Temple Bar

Of all the quality pizza slices the Fair City has to offer, one establishment has stood the test of time. Opened in 2002, its owners found themselves at a loose end looking to find somewhere to grab a slice upon returning from living in New York. A gap
in the market was spotted, and a legend was born.
Di Fontaine’s originally stood at Crown
Alley in Temple Bar, before making the short relocation to Parliament Street in 2011, where the green, red and gold of its storefront have since become synonymous with the surrounding area.
“Di Fontaine’s remains a bastion of reliability and taste – offering a wide range of meaty, vegetarian and vegan options.”
From students seeking some late-night soakage, to hard-working citizens in search of a quick and delicious lunch,
Di Fontaine’s remains a bastion of reliability and taste – offering a wide range of meaty, vegetarian and vegan options.
Their motto “making it nice” doesn’t only apply to their delicious pies, however.

Their Pay It Forward scheme has allowed the team at Di Fontaine’s to send multiple 20” pizzas to various voluntary groups and charity organisations working directly with the homeless in Dublin each week.
Not only do they serve up great pizza, they also contribute an invaluable sense of community that helps the city thrive.
