The US-Actor Eva Longoria has turned her hand to fashion design and is set to showcase her eponymous debut collection on September 13th at the New York Fashion Week, according to Vogue.
The Desperate Housewives star will showcase a new and affordable collection for “The Eva Longoria Collection” as part of the Kia STYLE360’s show at Metropolitan West, alongside Rosario Dawson and Orange is the New Black’s Alysia Reiner. The collection will be streamed live and will also feature 360-degree broadcasts, reports WWD. This line reflects her personal style. It is a versatile fashion line of elegant, everyday essentials that you can wear at both the workplace and the wine bar. There are also bodycon dresses as well as pantsuits – a style that Longoria likes to wear on the red carpet. Eva Longoria first entered the fashion world with a collection designed for U.S. retailer “The Limited” before launching her own offering of slogan T-shirts, skinny jeans, baseball jackets and bodycon dresses online. The collection featured a range of sizes from XXS to XXL and retailed between US$39 and US$159.
“People keep asking me why it’s taken me so long to do a clothing line, because I’ve been wanting to do it forever,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. "I was offered a lot of different deals — it was basically to just put your name on something. But I wanted to be part of the process. I wanted to design, I wanted to help in the sourcing, I wanted to be involved in buying the artwork (for prints and graphics), everything. And to do that, it is its own full-time job.”
In addition to being a Hollywood actor and producer as well as a fashion designer, Longoria is an advocate for human rights. The Eva Longoria Foundation helps Latinas to build a better future for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship. The 42-year-old has been supporting organizations for years, attending charity events in different cities around the globe.
