Katie Taylor's match against Amanda Serrano at Madison Square Garden in April of last year had fans hoping for a homecoming for the Bray-based boxer.
After Amanda Serrano withdrew due to an injury picked up in training, it is unclear whether Irish boxer Katie Taylor will have her homecoming match. If the match goes ahead, it will be Taylor's first bout as a professional, taking place in Ireland.
In an interview with Sportsmail, the promoters said that "they are working on" finding a replacement opponent, with UK's undisputed light-welterweight champion Chantelle Cameron and America Mikaela Mayer in the mix.
In a statement, Matchroom said, they "regret to announce that the Taylor-Serrano II bout on May 20 in Dublin will not go ahead as planned. The teams are in discussions about finding a revised date for the bout. Further details will follow in due course."
Last month, Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn announced that the rematch will take place on 20th May in Dublin. Despite rumours that the event would take place at 3Arena, no venue had been confirmed. Taylor's initial plan to hold a homecoming in Croke Park was thwarted due to high costs.

Since the recent issues do not bode well for a rematch, both teams have agreed to reschedule the bout. A rematch in Croke Park in September is thus a possibility once more.
