The Irish boxer was supposed to compete against Amanda Serrano in Croke Park, but Katie Taylor now has a new sold out venue and a competitor for her May 20th match.
Tickets were released for Katie Taylor’s homecoming boxing match against Chantelle Cameron and sold out in mere minutes on both Ticketmaster and Stage Front. The ticket prices ranged from €80 to €1,500 for VIP seats, as only 8,000 to 9,000 tickets were released for the 3Arena event in Dublin.
The tickets went on sale today at 10am and reportedly sold out in minutes (an official confirmation is still anticipated from Promoters Matchroom). The rest of the prices included €100, €140, €250, €500 and €750 packages.
This will mark Taylor’s first fight on Irish soil and possibly her last, making the ticket situation even more sad for fans.
The Bray boxer was originally supposed to compete in Croke Park against rival Amanda Serrano after competing against each other at Madison Square Garden with a sold out 19,000 arena.

This also would have allowed for more tickets and more affordable options with 80,000 tickets being available rather than the estimated 8,000 to 9,000. The tickets were also supposed to start at €40 so families and more people could attend.
Despite some tickets selling to 3Arena and Matchroom customers in advance, this was not enough tickets to meet the demand of the crowd.
The Olympic gold medalist will be competing against England’s unchallenged World super lightweight champion Chantelle Cameron on May 20th.
Taylor can continue her winning streak of 22-0 with the homecoming match, but if the boxer loses, she will still have her four World lightweight credits.
The Bray native could also impact the future of boxing matches in Ireland with the possibility of indoor arena tournaments being used again. It is unlikely that Croke Park will be a venue for a boxing match in the near future.
