The American R'n'B singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash when she was only 22 years old. Now, after 16 years the cosmetics producer MAC honours Aaliyah posthumously with a collection dedicated to her. MAC officially announced the surprising collection by publishing a trailer for the new make-up line, which is to come to the market in 2018.
The initial idea came from a petition started in 2015 by her fan, Jennifer Risinger, who was able to collect thousands of signatures for the launch of a MAC collection. The effort has paid off.
“Aaliyah is truly one in a million — an unstoppable icon whose groundbreaking work in R&B music and film inspires us all,” MAC shared in a press release. “Today we join her countless fans in celebrating her with the announcement of the M•A•C Aaliyah collection. You made it happen!”
It´s not the first time that MAC launches a collection in honor of a dead star: In 2015 the American Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was already honored with her own make-up line.
In addition, MAC is also known for his collaborations with stars like Rihanna, Caitlyn Jenner, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
