The curious connection between fashion and evil
There’s a curious connection between fashion and evil – just think of movie maniacs Rosemary Woodhouse (Mia Farrow, Rosemary’s Baby), Lestat de Lioncourt (Tom Cruise, Interview With The Vampire) Jack Carter (Michael Caine, Get Carter) and countless others besides.
Whether there’s murder on their minds or blood dripping from their chins, these fiendish crooks always seem to hold it together, sartorially.
Christian Bale’s Patrick Bateman took the greatest of care with his Armani suits – and while to think of his iconic image, immaculately creased and wielding a hatchet, as a lesson in style might seem a little vulgar, there’s a lot to be gleaned from his slicker than slick apparel: think classic lines, simple yet daring colour combinations and a flawless fit.
The big screen’s where fashion is immortalised, not the runway or the shelves, and when murder’s afoot, well, that makes it all the more memorable.
