Radie Peat, Roisin El Cherif and Christy Moore are all set to perform at the highly anticipated match next month
Ahead of the solidarity match between Bohemian FC and the Palestine Women's National Team at Dalymount Park in Dublin on Wednesday, May 15, the club have announced the musical performances you can look forward to on the night.
Legendary Irish folk singer Christy Moore will play at half-time, while Lankum's Radie Peat and Irish-Palestinian singer-songwriter Roisin El Cherif will sing the Irish and Palestinian anthems respectively. All three artists have previously been involved in multiple fundraising efforts and events in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The club have also stated that more performers are set to be announced.
All proceeds from the match are going to Sport For Life Palestine, Medical Aid For Palestinians, and Aclaí Palestine.
According to Bohemian FC, this will mark the first time a Palestinian team has played in Europe. The match takes place on the 76th anniversary of the Nakba, and aims to "highlight the human rights violations in occupied Palestine."
“There is no better way to commemorate the Nakba than by having our national team come to one of the few countries in Europe that is constant and consistent in its solidarity with our just cause," the Palestinian Ambassador to Ireland, Jilan Wahba Abdalmajid, said when the match was announced. "Thank you, Ireland, thank you to the Irish people, and thank you Bohemian FC.”
