Women have always been compared to each other at all times. This is no different today. "Is she slimmer than me?", "She's got real bacon rolls," "Well, I'm not as hungry as I am back there."Whether in the gym, swimming pool or while shopping: we always compare ourselves with others and often quite critically. But when judged only by outward appearances, this is no longer normal, but body shaming.
The British curvy model Sophie Turner, who is based in London and New York and has more than 257,000 followers on Instagram shared on Wednesday a body positive message with a photo calling on women to learn to love their imperfections and start accepting themselves. The image is of the blonde beauty posing in a white crop top and underwear showing her natural body with cellulite and no Photoshop manipulation. The body-positivity advocate wants to inspire women to stop basing their self-worth on their looks.
“I done a photoshoot yesterday and these are some behind the scenes pictures,” the plus size model began. “I was angry when I saw this picture because of my cellulite.” She said her cellulite was on her mind, but argues that it shouldn’t have been. “I am more than #cellulite I am more than the #bellyrolls and the #backfat and #celluliteisnormal!!” she added. “It’s natural for us ladies to have cellulite and we need to stop seeing it as disgusting or ugly. Yes we all want smooth skin but we also need to accept reality!”
The post was like more than 12,000 times and Sophie's fans reacted positively, writing: "love her for sharing this" and "what cellulite all am seeing is a beautiful woman."
Others added: "I just see a beautiful human being, perfection doesn't exist, you are so beautiful just the way you are."
