This year's Dublin Pride Parade was eventful despite COVID-19 related restrictions.
Due to the Coronavirus restrictions, the Dublin Pride parade went virtual this past Sunday. The theme of the parade was 'In This Together', and Sunday's event was the closing one of this year's virtual festival.
Organisers are saying that this year's festival is 'one to remember', with quizzes, debates and other entertaining elements on throughout the day to keep audiences engaged and celebratory.
The digital parade, which commenced at 2pm, was led by Lord Mayor of Dublin Tom Brabazon, alongside frontline workers across Dublin.
CEO of Dublin Pride Joe Dowling was confident that the digital version of the parade succeeded in raising awareness about the issues faced by the LGTQ+ community, despite the travel restrictions. "We've come a long way but that doesn't mean that there isn't still bullying or that people aren't still the victims of violence," he noted.

"That still happens. In particular, a lot of trans youth are the victims of violence and attacks so it's still an issue."
