Google Pixel 7

Sometimes you wonder why people bother with iPhones. The Pro version of the Pixel 7 has a 6.7 inch screen – exactly the same as the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple’s device costs €1,489, but the Pixel 7 Pro is around $899. Google’s expanding eco system, meanwhile, is starting to rival its iOS competitor.

Google Assistant, for example, is a subservient virtual butler – useful for tasks such as transcribing voice notes into text – and the device has Apple-esque, Fort Knox levels of security. The Pixel 7 – which has a 6.3” display and costs around €649 (and is available at Vodafone) – takes a spot on our Christmas list on account of its 50MP camera, which includes effects such as Cinematic Blur (creates DSLR-style background smudges), and Magic Eraser (removes distractions with Photoshop-esque trickery).
