A statement posted by Cork City FC read: “All at Cork City FC are deeply saddened at the passing of Ciarán Keating, father of our player Ruairí Keating.
Ronan Keating’s brother Ciaran has been killed following a car accident near Swinford, Co. Mayo on Saturday July 15.
The eldest brother of the Boyzone member, Ciaran was on his way to watch his son Ruairí play for Cork City in a football match against Sligo Rovers.
He was travelling alongside his wife Ann Marie, who was taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for injuries which are reportedly non-life threatening.
The driver of the other car in the two-vehicle collision is reported to have sustained serious injuries, for which they were taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment. Another male passenger was also taken to hospital.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Ruairí and the entire Keating family at this exceptionally difficult time.

Independent councillor for Mayo County Council Christy Hyland told Belfast Live that “our sympathy goes out to all the Keating family, Ciaran’s death is truly shocking.”
