Cork native Angela Beaumont was our featured designer earlier this year, and it seems Christmas has come early for the young designer, who has had a very busy year.
Recently her work was selected from a range of established and new Irish designers for the ‘RIAN’ Irish showcase exhibition. This exhibition will tour to the Irish Embassy in Berlin next year during London Fashion Week in February. She’s also recently designed for musicians like Julie Feeney, and curated an inter-disciplinary exhibition in The Roundy Bar, Cork with abstract painter Siobhan Grace, whose paintings inspired Angela to build a body of work from them.
Now, just in time to get her work on many a fashionista’s Dear Santa letter, Angela has released her latest collection, a stunning blend of structured pieces in delicious pastel and candy shades that add a whimsical playfulness to the luxurious fabrics and beautifully tailored designs. While the palette is all sweet 1950s kitschness, the modern silhouettes and futuristic highlights such as bright metallics and ruffled embellishment represent a striking mix of eras and trends.
The unique but accessible designs have already attracted international attention, and Angela is in talks with manufacturing companies to bring the collection to Panama, New York, Brazil and Columbia. Angela’s gorgeous pieces have also put her in the running to be featured in the designer showrooms at Paris Fashion Week this coming March, as well as London Fashion Week in February.
