With an eye for creating high-quality food using locally sourced ingredients, and all in a relaxed setting, Tasty 8 has been attracting Liberties folk by the bucket-load since it started up less than a year ago. “In terms of our food, we have a straightforward menu which does good food in an uncomplicated way,” founder Chris Parrott tells us. “I’d recommend our breakfast options – with the likes of Avocado on Sourdough Toast, or Chia Seed Puddings with Coconut Milk and Mango. We’re trying to appeal to that lifestyle market while keeping the integrity of the food. “As a chef, I’m a fan of spicy things, so we do a great Chilli Beef Quesadilla. We also do an authentic Curry Hotpot, which I make over two days so that it’s really simmered down and allowed to breathe. We want to make it so that it wouldn’t look out of place in amongst the best curry houses in town. “This is a key part of how I want to run the café. It’s not just a wham-bam kind of menu. I’ve 20 years’ experience as a chef and I really want to showcase that. I’m a great believer in a fair product for a fair price. “In terms of the future of the business, we’re going to be looking to expand as the Liberties continues to grow. We’re also going to be doing something really exciting with our outside catering. So keep an eye out for that!”
