Lyst compiled its statistics from 2018 to reveal what we have been searching for. The lists include 'vegan leather', 'Gucci heads' and 'ugly sneakers'.
Search site Lyst has announced its Year in Fashion 2018 revealing – perhaps! – what fashion fanatics wanted to wear. The site specialises in finding style pieces, from high street impulse buys to luxury investments. With 80 million shoppers in 120 countries accounted for, it's fair to say the site gives a unique insight into the most loved looks of the year.
Most Influential Celebrities
Ten celebrities have been crowned 'most influential' by the site. Predictably, Kylie Jenner took the top spot as the most searched celebrity of 2018, with over 2 million searches throughout the year. The 21 year-old billionaire has 120 million followers on Instagram with a growing cosmetics business.
Her sister Kim Kardashian West follows closely behind as the second most influential celebrity. Lyft credits many popular trends to Kim, including cycling shorts, which saw 78% search increase. She also revived the Fendi logo, the fifth most loved logo of the year.
Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle sits in the number three spot, a natural choice considering the royal wedding chaos. Novababe Cardi B takes number four, while Beyoncé is fifth on the list. BeyChella saw a rise in searches for the iconic Balmain yellow jumper she wore during her live performance (58% rise in searches for Balmain hoodies).

Other on the list: 6 Serena Williams; 7 Chiara Ferragni; 8 Blake Lively; 9 Rihanna; 10 Ariana Grande.
Top Trends
'Dad' fashion was the clear trend-topper of the year with a 439% search increase for the look. Ugly trainers, slouchy cardigans and fleece-shirt combos are all in vogue at the moment.
Shoppers also searched with sustainability in mind as 'vegan leather', 'organic cotton' and 'econyl' saw a 47% rise. Meghan Markle was spotted sporting vegan leather trainers, a possible influence on this trend.
Other key trends include cowboy boots, sports luxe and neon colour-blocking.
Best Brands
Lyst compiled the most search Instagram brands throughout the year. Veja took the number one spot: as mentioned above Meghan Markle was seen wearing the eco-friendly trainers earlier this year.

Reformation and Attico follow in Veja's footsteps with Réalisation Par in fourth spot on the list. The brand is best known for its leopard print midi skirt - apparently, it sent everyone into a 'must-have' frenzy. The 'Naomi' skirt is the 5th most wanted piece on Instagram, according to Lyst.
Loco For Logos
2018 was also the year of slogan tees and branded pieces. Supreme, Champion and Fila have been named the three most-searched brands, confirming the hype around the sports luxe trend.
High-end designers Prada, Fendi and Gucci are next on the list: Prada came in at number four for its neon pieces and Kim Kardashian gave Fendi a renaissance moment, boosting the brand to number 5.
Gucci takes the 6th spot as the designer topped the 'Instagram's Most Wanted' list with the Gucci logo belt. The Gucci heads, as seen in the Autumn/ Winter 2018 Fashion Show, inspired "many a Halloween outfit." According to Lyst, 'Gucci heads' was searched over 1,000 times in October alone.
Global Best Sellers
2018 gave us some unusual trends. 'Ugly sneakers' were the overall favourite trend-piece of the year, with special shoutout to the Balenciaga Triple S.
