Grammy-nominated artist Valerie June has announced a headline show at Whelan's for 14th October 2024.
Tennessee-born Valerie June Hockett has carved out a niche for herself in the music scene with her scintillating blend of astral folk and meditative R&B. She's been hailed by the New York Times as one of America's “most intriguing, fully formed new talents.”
The multi-hyphenate June - musician, singer, songwriter, poet, illustrator, actor, certified yoga and mindfulness meditation instructor and author - has served as a Turnaround artist working with students for the President's Committee for the Arts and Humanities and continues serving through The Kennedy Center.
With three critically-acclaimed, best-selling solo albums to her name, Valerie June has also written songs for legendary artists such as Mavis Staples and The Blind Boys of Alabama.
