Steve Bug’s fourth sojourn into underground anonymity maintains the series’ link to the legacy of Chicago house. ‘Hold It’, with its raw shuffle and weeping 303s, also makes reference to modern techno bleeps, but ‘Infiltrate’ is a different matter. Its skeletal beats, doubled up drums and spooky riffs call to mind classic Hawtin material and the understated funk of Bug’s Poker Flat label.
