Alt-rock musician, 0Stella, has released her latest album, Skyward, where she explores the highs and lows of addiction recovery through a blend of Irish folk and Canadian rock music.
Irish-Canadian singer 0Stella has released her sophomore album, Skyward, as a follow-up to her first album Freefall. Merging Canadian rock tradition, Irish storytelling, and folk music, this latest release is built on the artist's signature alt-rock sound and explores the highs and lows of addiction recovery.
The singer compares her two albums: “Where Freefall was about the plunge into the depths of addiction abuse, Skyward is about the gradual climb out of self-destruction. Beginning with defiance and ending in a place of self-acceptance, reflection and enlightenment...the blissful moments of suspension before the inevitable freefall once again. An ever-swinging pendulum of recovery”.
The Dublin-born, Edmonton-based artist includes a song in the Irish language (as Gaeilge) on the digital release of the album.
With sustainability at the forefront of the singer's priorities, 0Stella is committed to responsible touring. On Earth Day, April 20, 2022, with her bike, a tent, solar panel and carbon fibre guitar, she embarked on an awe-inspiring album tour of Canada, solo cycling from Victoria, BC to Halifax, NS. Covering an astonishing distance of over 5,400 kilometres.
