Rapper Kodak Black was reportedly arrested (again) last Friday on charges of drug trafficking and possession.
The rapper was taken in by highway patrol late last week in Florida on charges of drug trafficking, involving oxycodone, as well as possession of a controlled substance. Kodak Black, whose legal name is Bill Kapri, was previously convicted on a weapons charge only to be pardoned by former president Donald Trump on the final day of his presidential term. At the time of the pardon, the rapper had served nearly half of his three-year federal prison sentence.
The rapper was also placed on a mere probation last year after being charged for the rape of a South Carolina teenage girl. While Kapri was charged with rape, he accepted a deal, instead pleading guilty in the case of non-sexual, first-degree assault.
Following the arrest on Friday, Kapri was booked into jail for one night before being released on Saturday on a negotiated $75,000 bond, according to a report from The Guardian.
Kodak took to Twitter yesterday to joke about the situation, tweeting a video of his mugshot with the caption, “SMH! Not again.”

Police initially pulled the rapper over on the highway as he was allegedly driving a car with tinted windows darker than the legal amount. Upon searching the vehicle, highway patrol claimed they discovered a small bag full of white tablets – later identified as oxycodone – as well as a bag of $75,000 in cash. On top of that, the vehicle’s licence tags and Kapri’s driver’s licence were expired.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, the rapper's lawyer Bradford Cohen stated, “Never judge a case based on an arrest. There are facts and circumstances that give rise to a defence, especially in this case.”
Despite his many controversies (and a court-documented sexual assault admission), Kodak Black is still scheduled to perform at Rolling Loud this Sunday, July 24. The artist is one of many much-awaited performances at the rap festival, which boasts a slew of names such as Kendrick Lamar, Kanye, Future, Playboi Carti – the list is endless.
