Kilkenny indie-electronic duo 49th & Main have dropped their latest single ‘Hold On’.
The house-infused bop marks the band’s second release of the year, following up from March’s ‘Self Sabotage’.
Since forming four years ago, the pairing of producer Ben O’Sullivan and singer/instrumentalist Paddy King have enjoyed a formidable rise, earning 105m streams, Choice Prize nominations and slots at some of Europe’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury in 2022.
Nonetheless, the band have faced significant obstacles as of late, with O’Sullivan having been diagnosed with a rare blood disease called aplastic anaemia, which coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Throughout lockdown and O’Sullivan’s treatment, the band took time to experiment with different genres and sounds, with their newly adopted eclectic approach resulting in the hit 2020 single ‘Catching Eyes’.

‘Hold On’ sees the band team up with Kerry producer SHEE.
“Working with SHEE has been something we’ve wanted to do for a while now… We both have similar ‘small town’ Irish upbringings and similar experiences with music growing up and this song exemplifies that,” said 49th & Main.
“It's a classic house sound. It has been such a fun song to work on and I think that comes across when you hear it. You can’t help but dance to it.”
